Starting NORMAN and the Main menu

The programme is started by changing to the main NORMAN directory and typing

NORMAN

at the DOS prompt. Press any key to get rid of the opening screen and the Main menu shall be displayed with following options:

Load data file imports data in ASCII, ASCII with structure (*.CSV), dBASE (*.DBF) and NewPet (*.ROC) formats.

Edit/enter data starts an editor either for typing new data from the keyboard, or editing the data imported by the previous option. The modified data set can be saved in ASCII, *.CSV, *.DBF or *.ROC (NewPet) formats.

Calculations chooses the calculation scheme and calculates the results.

Display results enables display and browsing of the calculated values. The data can be searched, tabulated and printed; it is also possible to see the summary statistics of either the original analyses or of the calculated parameters.

Print all/selected prints the selected results.

Save results saves the calculated values as an ASCII file (including *.CSV), dBASE file or in a format that can be later imported into the NewPet plotting package for a graphic output.

Options change enables changes to the NORMAN configuration to be made, such as specifying the default directories, setting options for CIPW calculations, setting iron recalculation options, installation and de-installation of the calculation modules. An editor for the user-defined functions (*.DEF) is also provided.

Quit to DOS ends the programme.
